Rounded End Five Petal Flower

The rounded ribbon edge is made with a washer and woodburning tool. Trace the end of the washer on the ribbon. This will cut the ribbon and seal the end at the same time.

Cut Ribbon to length; these petals are 1 3/4 inches.

Repeat process to make five petals.

Stitch petals together with a needle and upholstery thread.

Pull the threads tight and tie off on the back of flower.

Supplies used in this flower: 1 1/2 inch Ribbon, 1 1/2 inch Metal Washer (hardware store), Woodburner (craft store), Needle and Upholstery thread

  7. I make these bows, too but lots of cutting and burning the edges so they don't fray. Your version is much simpler... off to the store to buy a wood burning tool! Thanks for the tutorial!

  8. These are so cute! I don't have a wood burning tool though so I'll just have to use my good 'ol fashioned lighter haha. Thank you so much for sharing this! These are too cute!

  9. I do not have a wood burning tool, but will use thin one sided steam a seam to bond the back of the ribbon so that it will not ravel. - Barb

  10. Very nice. Using the woodburning tool to cut the petals gives a much more tailored look to the flower. Thanks!

  12. Thanks for sharing this tutorial! I just finished making a bow like this, and it turned out so cute! :) After hunting around my husband's toolbox for a washer that was the right size to go with the ribbon I wanted to use and having all of them be either too big or too small, I found that a nickel was the perfect size. I'm planning to use a dime with the ribbon that I am going to use for the next one. Just thought I'd share this little tidbit in case anyone else encounters the same issue I was having!
